Sweet Summertime
Writing in Noah and Rose's world always makes me think about the warm days of sweet summertime. This photo was taken in a cornfield in the Amish community that I lived in for seven years. Since the Amish aren't allowed to be have portrait pictures taken, we had to borrow a neighbor boy's pants, shirt, hat and suspenders. We dressed my oldest son, Luke, up as Noah and a close family friend, Kelsey Haynes, portrayed Rose. Those are our horses, Skydog as Rumor and Job (a gelding!) as Lady. It was a sticky-warm sort of day and the photographer, Kendra Haynes (Kelsey's sister) and I were also mounted. It's

a day I'll always remember fondly.
